Profile
Parsua Contemporary Rugs
Parsua's founders, Dominique Chevalier and Ali Bayat, are antiques
dealers specialising in antique tapestries and rugs. Nowadays it can be
difficult to find an antique rug that corresponds perfectly to what one
is looking for. The carpet is either too small, too wide, too long, too
red, too blue or too expensive.
The Parsua concept is to offer rugs of very high quality - Persian
carpets as they used to be made - but in a broad range of designs and
with the possibility of ordering them to measure, in the desired
colourway: this is haute couture in the rug and carpet world.
Parsua rugs are principally inspired by an antique decorative
repertoire (16th-century Ottoman textiles, revisited Persian designs,
18th-century French motifs, 19th-century British Arts and Crafts…), but
there is also a line of rugs with ethnic, modern or contemporary
designs. The collection today comprises around 100 models.
Parsua rugs are knotted by hand in Iran, a country which offers the
best resources in this field: unequalled ancestral know-how, wool of
supreme quality.
Characteristics of Parsua rugs:
• Cotton warp, cotton and wool weft, wool pile
• Hand-spun wool
• Natural dyes
• Natural patina produced by exposure to the sun
• No children under 14 work in the workshops
• Products bear the CB (Chevalier-Bayat) monogram
