Profile
Fine Cell Work
Fine Cell Work is a uniquely creative charity which teaches needlework to prison inmates and sells their work on their behalf. The inmates are taught by volunteers, many of whom have taken courses at the Royal School of Needlework and the Embroiders Guild. The charity is already supported by a number of leading figures in the world of interior design. The work is of superb quality and is to be found in some of the most beautiful interiors in the UK and around the world.
The recent growth of Fine Cell Work's projects means that the charity can now offer this uniquely creative design service to its customers, providing them with an access to UK-based hand-embroidery skills for the creation of original and distinctive accessories for interiors including cushions, seat covers, rugs, quilts or wall hangings.
Fine Cell Work is able to create completely original pieces to a designers' specification or drawing, or our in-house design team will work closely to help you realise the design you have in mind. Fine Cell Work also has its own collection of stunning cushion, quilt and rug designs, many of which are kept in stock. Alternative colourways of these may also be specified.
The range of products that Fine Cell Work can produce is growing and includes:
- Antique linen patchwork cushions
- Appliqué, tapestry, surface embroidery cushions
- Cot-size to king-size patchwork quilts
- Needlepoint rugs
- Tapestry seat covers for furniture
- Specific designs undertaken to commission
Fine Cell Work has been generously supported in a variety of ways over its 10 year history by many in the design profession. Textile designers run training and sewing workshops around the country. The charity has have carried out bespoke work for many London-based designers, including: John Stefanidis, William Yeoward, Kit Kemp, Creative Director of Firmdale Hotel Group and Precious McBane for Virgin Radio.
