Awarded to the British brand that has shown the most imaginative and greatest commitment to the support and development of a craft in luxury, Soane is thrilled to have been presented the 2010 Walpole award for Luxury Craftsmanship.
Combining today’s technology with traditional skills, ALL of Soane’s furniture and lighting is made in Britain, thus promoting British excellence worldwide and at the same time nurturing the craftsmen whose brilliance Soane profoundly believes in.
Lulu Lytle, founder of Soane comments:
“Having been warned by many people
over the last 13 years that manufacturing solely in Britain is simply not
viable, I feel this award is really for all the exceptional workshops with whom
Soane collaborates and justifies their determination to pursue their crafts in
Britain”
The quality of the craftsmanship and consequent flexibility in production are what sets Soane apart. Soane Britain has great faith in Britain’s traditional skills such as iron forging, saddlery, cabinet-making and bronze casting. Producing the hand-made collection in the UK allows production and quality to be relentlessly monitored.
Soane now produce over 500 pieces, all in Britain. As well as the 21st century interpretations of exceptional 18th, 19th and 20th century originals Soane produces its own collection of furniture, lighting, door handles, glass and silverware.
