Published on:06/11/2009

On the evening of 28th October Her Majesty's Ambassador to Japan, Mr. David Warren opened a reception for 300 guests of the British Institute of Interior Design (formerly British Interior Design Association, BIDA)* in the public rooms of his private residence at the British Embassy in Tokyo. The event was held to promote British interior design which is globally acknowledged for its high standards of creativity and professionalism.

Timed to coincide with Tokyo's Design Week International Director, Celia James led the Mission which included eleven BIID members. The members held a series of seminars, sat on discussion panels and made presentations at the British Embassy, Domani's beautiful showrooms in central Tokyo, the prestigious K-Gallery and 100% Design. It is estimated that over 1,000 visitors comprising interior designers, affiliated industry professionals, potential clients and press attended the events.

The BIID members who took part found their visit to Japan educational, inspirational and an excellent basis upon which to foster relationships for future commissions and collaborations.

This event was sponsored by Karimoku and Bacaldy

*Earlier this year the Minister of State granted the BIID Institute status in recognition of its long held position as the preeminent body representing the interior design industry.
