BIDA member Christopher Dezille will be presented with the IFI Design Excellence award for Residential Interiors at the BIDA AGM on 30th October. Earlier this month Dean Keyworth (Chairman) and Simon Cavelle (BIDA member) of the BIDA collected the award on behalf of Honky Design at the IFI Design Congress on 10th October in Buscan, Korea.
The Design Excellence Awards were established for the first time this year. Entries for the awards have been subject to competition and award guidelines set by IFI and KOSID, in consultation with the IFI Board. Future awards will be presented biannually at the IFI General Assembly.
Awards have been drawn from the entries submitted for the IFI Year Book 2007 which are finalists from their respective national organisations. Winners have been selected from 60 entries which were divided into six categories. The IFI awards aim to promote Interior Architects/ Designers, and acknowledge the contribution they are making in setting the highest global standards for the profession.
Commenting on the awards, BIDA Chairman Dean Keyworth remarks “"We are delighted that BIDA designer members received no less than 4 nominations in IFI's inaugural Design Excellence Awards and that Christopher Dezille of Honky Designs took the prize for the residential category. With competition from top designers in 5 continents, this is a truly remarkable achievement”.
We have found a growing international interest in British interior design and through our membership of IFI, we have an excellent platform to promote our members' work abroad and to be involved in shaping the industry globally.
The IFI represents over 52,000 practising professional interior designers around the world and BIDA is proud to have been accepted as a full member of this prestigious organisation at its General Assembly in South Korea”
Christopher Dezille has worked in interior design for many years. In 2001 he set up his own design consultancy, Honky, which has undertaken both private and commercial projects, where he inspires creativity, professional expertise, ultimate perfection and subtle refinement to each of his interiors.
Christopher Dezille comments “when the BIDA called for entries to the IFI Awards I was unsure whether to submit an entry given their global status and far reaching influence. On hearing of our success as winners of the residential Interior category, I was initially overwhelmed by the enormity of being recognised in this way. I feel honoured that our work has hit a resonance with an international judging panel of this stature!”
