A very Special Relationship - Happy Anniversary IIDA and BIID
Published on:30/03/2011
Ten exciting years ago, in the interests of combining resources and talents, the British chapter of IIDA and what is now the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) came together to form one association to represent the very best of professional interior designers working on both sides of the Atlantic.
There has always been a synergy between designers working in America and the UK both historically and culturally, and a constant flow of projects commissioned by clients with properties internationally, creates a need for co-operation and reciprocity. The language may be the same but the codes and regulations are not, and it is a valuable resource to be able to have a dialogue with those who hold the same standards of professional competence and knowledge.
The BIID is proud of its long and continuing history of collaboration and friendship with IIDA and of our many respected members who hold dual membership and Fellowship of the IIDA, Henrietta Spencer Churchill, Tessa Kennedy, Christopher Vane Percy, Kate Ainslie Williams and Lori Pinkerton-Rolet to name just a few. Much has changed over the ten years, with the ease of electronic communication, the need to save resources and reduce our carbon footprint and to raise the professional standards of practice, but the aims and ideals of the two organisations have remained the same.
Happy Anniversary to us!
