Profile

Philippa Devas / Devas Designs

Philippa Devas is a leading name in British Interior Design, featuring in the House & Garden 100 Leading Interior Designers. She has established a reputation for producing elegant and restful interiors that suit her client’s lifestyle. Philippa founded Devas Designs in 1994, having started her career at Percy Bass and subsequently spending 12 years working with renowned designer Chester Jones firstly at Colefax & Fowler and then for his own company, Chester Jones Ltd.

Since founding Devas Designs, Philippa’s style has matured into something distinctive and eclectic that combines the antique and the contemporary, frequently referencing continental style while still making use of the very best English furniture and craftsmen.

Based in Chelsea but working on commissions throughout the UK and Europe, Philippa has kept her business small and intimate ensuring that every client has her full attention. She manages her client projects with meticulous attention to detail, often working alongside architects and builders to ensure smooth running of a project, timely completion and a beautiful finish.

Passionate about fine art, Philippa is often called on to source one-off works of art for her clients and thanks to her excellent relationships with art dealers, she can source the very best. Her speciality is the ability to create interiors that work with a client’s art collection.

Philippa’s aim is to create restful interiors that work for her clients, using decorative, often painted furniture, old and new, together with a limited use of pattern, to bring serenity to the room.

Philippa is as comfortable decorating a single room for a client, as she is managing a complete restoration. Current projects include a Kensington townhouse and a large country house in Dorset.
