Lavinia Dargie established Dargie Lewis Designs Limited in 1978 and in that time her elegant and distinctive style has acquired an international reputation. Whether residential or commercial, modern or traditional, her deceptively simple and timeless interiors reflect a highly creative and individual flair for detail and colour. During this time Lavinia has built up a reliable team of architects, builders and craftsmen - many of whom have been with her throughout.
Whether in London, the country or abroad her schemes are eminently 'liveable' and always reflect the personalities of her clients, this client/designer chemistry is essential.
As well as being aesthetically pleasing, it is vital that the finished design should complement the client's lifestyle and cater for that flexibility. The need for a sense of continuity is also important: familiar objects, personal collections, favourite furniture - all contribute to the eventual harmony.
Undoubtedly influenced by her childhood in the Far East, Lavinia's decorating hallmarks are strong, uncluttered lines and unusually imaginative colours, sparingly used so that they never overpower. Her keen eye for proportion and scale, combining both traditional and modern interiors achieves a classic contemporary feel, reflecting 21st century living.
